Third mission in Visakhapatnam Jul 2025

I’m incredibly excited to share a powerful milestone with you. As part of Bright Futures’ third mission, we’ve just completed our largest and most impactful effort to date, and it wouldn’t have been possible without your support, encouragement, and belief in what we’re building together.

 Mission 3 Highlights:

- 825 online applications received from students across Andhra Pradesh through our fully digitized application system

- Over 5000 marks, income, extracurricular documents verified

- Conducted over 450 interviews with shortlisted students and their parents over a span of 35 hours

- Over 60 hours of reviewing and making tough, sometimes heartbreaking, decisions on scholarship eligibility

- 209 scholarships awarded to bright but impoverished students

- ₹11.5 Lakhs (CAD $19,000) disbursed directly toward tuition. 100% of the donations went towards student fees. 0 admin cost for the foundation.

- Continued to support our previous partners:

    • Mrs AVN College,
    • B.V.K College

- 2 new partner colleges onboarded:

    • Dr. VS Krishna Government College

    • Visakha Women’s Government College

  • - Chief Guest: MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) Sri Vamsi Krishna Srinivas at our award ceremony

  • - Media Coverage: 6 regional/National news outlets attended our award ceremony
  • - Social Media Updates: Live coverage, student interviews, and reels posted on Instagram

Our students come from deeply challenging backgrounds — children of daily-wage workers, farmers, fishermen and single-income households. Some lost parents. Others juggle work, caregiving, and exams. Yet they keep showing up, keep growing, and keep dreaming.

To highlight their stories, we’ve begun our Student Spotlight Series — featuring one student each day for two weeks. These posts reflect not just need, but resilience, ambition, and heart. Here’s a glimpse of a few:

“She lost her mother to cancer. Her father turned to alcohol. She now lives with her aunt and survives on a ₹5,000 pension. She asked for nothing—but deserved everything.”

What’s Next

We’re already looking ahead and planning key improvements:

- A fully integrated online interview module

- A red-yellow-green triage system for better scholarship targeting

- Improved pre-planning and volunteer coordination for future ceremonies

- Formal outreach to the GVMC Commissioner, Education Minister  and Deputy Chief Minister

- Expanding our donor network in both Canada and India

- Our biggest goal: Secure a corporate sponsor or endowment partner

Let’s continue to invest not just in students, but in the future of this generation and the world.
