Fourth Mission in Visakhapatnam, September 2026
I’m incredibly excited to share the completion of Bright Futures: A JB Foundation’s fourth mission in Visakhapatnam, India.
What began in 2024 with 14 scholarship recipients has continued to grow into a much larger community of students, families, schools, volunteers and donors who believe that financial circumstances should never determine how far a student can go in their education. Our fourth mission represents another major milestone in that journey.
This year, we continued working with our four partner colleges in Visakhapatnam and completed one of our largest scholarship distributions to date.
Mission 4 Highlights
- 903 scholarship applications reviewed from students across our partner colleges
- Nearly 500 interviews were completed with applicants, their parents/guardians and reviewed all documents including income proofs.
- 298 scholarships awarded that is 298 years of education.
- ₹16,00,000 (₹16 lakh) paid directly toward students’ educational fees to the institutions.
- Approximately CAD $25,000 in scholarship amounts.
- 4 colleges supported across Visakhapatnam
- Continued support for both returning Bright Futures scholars and new scholarship recipients
- Applications, academic records and supporting documents received and reviewed through our centralized digital scholarship system
- Individual scholarship amounts determined so that available funding could reach as many deserving students as possible while providing meaningful support toward their education
All this while maintaining an almost zero percent administration costs on the donation amounts from the donors. This meant that every hard earned dollar that you contributed went directly, in whole, to pay the fees of deserving students.

Our relationship with these institutions has grown beyond individual scholarship distributions. Working with the colleges year after year allows Bright Futures to identify promising students, follow the progress of returning scholars and create a more sustainable system of educational support.
₹16 Lakh Invested Directly in Education
During Mission 4, Bright Futures paid ₹16,00,000 in scholarships, equivalent to approximately CAD $25,000 at current exchange rates. The funds are directed toward students’ educational fees, helping reduce one of the most immediate barriers students and their families face in continuing their education.
With 298 recipients, Mission 4 is also our largest scholarship cohort to date.
Every scholarship represents a student continuing toward a degree, diploma or higher-secondary education and one more family for whom the cost of education becomes a little more manageable.
A Growing Mission
The scale of Mission 4 demonstrates how far Bright Futures has grown since our first mission in March 2024. During that first mission, we interviewed 20 students and ultimately supported 14 scholars.
Since then, Bright Futures has grown from supporting a single college to working with four partner institutions, while expanding its application, interview and scholarship systems. Mission 2 awarded 84 scholarships, while Mission 3 increased that number to 209.
Following Mission 4, Bright Futures has now awarded more than 600 scholarships across four missions.
Across Missions 1–4, approximately ₹36.5 lakh has been directed toward educational support representing roughly CAD $60,000+ in scholarship funding.
To Our Donors and Supporters
None of these numbers exist without the people behind them.
Every donation, whether large or small, becomes part of a student’s education. It helps pay a tuition bill, keeps a student enrolled for another year, and gives a young person more room to focus on their studies and their future.
Mission 4 allowed us to support 298 students with ₹16 lakh in scholarships, but our goal remains larger than any single mission: to continue building a model where talented students are not forced to abandon their education because of financial barriers.
